Update on Station Road closure starting 30 Sept:
There is some good news. Having spoken to the contractors, the road will only be closed at the railway crossing, and there will be traffic lights to control the traffic around the Maltings to allow safe access to all the businesses on the Maltings.
The contractors have assured me they will work as quickly as possible to get all the repairs completed in the shortest possible time.
The road outside our Centre will be closed from Monday for roof repairs.
We apologise for any inconvenience caused but there is no other alternative.
We have been working with our insurance company & their builders for some time trying to get our gable repaired, but due to health & safety concerns, we need scaffolding to be erected outside the Centre on the road.
Because the pavement is so narrow, the road must be closed to prevent accidents.
We were informed that the road management company would be responsible for notifying everybody – and we are trying to find out why no notices were distributed.
The licence for the repairs lasts 1 month, but we are hopeful that the repairs will be carried out quickly and efficiently. However, until the scaffolding is erected, the full extent of the repairs can’t yet be accessed so we can’t give an exact time scale for the repairs.
Hopefully the repairs will be quick.
The scaffolding will be erected as soon as the road is closed on Monday and the builders are ready to start works immediately.
